Roxbury Cultural District City Council Hearing to be Held October 25th in Dudley

For the last several months, several Roxbury organizations, under the leadership of Haley House, Madison Park CDC, and The American City Coalition, have been examining the Commonwealth’s Cultural District program to determine its potential designation of such a space in this neighborhood. Next Tuesday, October 25th, as required by State legislation and the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), a City Council hearing on the topic will take place at Hibernian Hall at 184 Dudley Street at 6 p.m. Convened by Councilor Tito Jackson and supported by many of his colleagues, this public session is an opportunity to engage the community in a dialogue about cultural district benefits and boundaries, and Roxbury’s unique cultural assets and particular priorities. The Boston City Council must vote to allow the application to move forward to the MCC.
