Eustis Street Fire House Wins 2012 Massachusetts Historical Commission Preservation Award

This year Historic Boston Inc.?s Eustis Street Fire House was honored to receive one of the Massachusetts Historical Commission?s coveted Preservation Awards. Each Year the MHC chooses projects across the state which have ?revitalized neighborhoods, added to the revenues of cities and towns, and preserved community character?. This year?s awards ceremony, marked the 34th anniversary of the celebration, and HBI was excited to be a part of it.

The Eustis Street Fire House was chosen for the categories of Adaptive Reuse, Archaeology, Rehabilitation and Restoration, and received the award at a celebration that took place May 30th. Secretary of the Commonwealth, William Francis Galvin met the awardees and spoke to the importance of preservation, and Executive Director of the MHC, Brona Simon introduced each project, and told those assembled the importance of each one of them. This was no easy task, as all the projects were exceptionally impressive. We were privileged to be in such good company, and we thank the MHC for designating us with this honor.
