21 Sep Remembering Rich Beal
HBI is very sad to report that one of its board members, Richard P. Beal, passed away unexpectedly early on September 21st. Rich served on HBI’s Council of Advisors in 2014 and joined the Board of Directors in 2015. He was an enthusiastic supporter of HBI’s mission, and brought his tremendous skills in real estate to our work.
Rich joined A.W. Perry in 2004 and was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in March 2017. He spent seven years overseeing A.W. Perry’s South Shore residential development division as well as leasing, property management and asset management for various commercial properties, including The Berkeley at 420 Boylston Street, Boston.
A 1985 graduate of Wesleyan University, Rich excelled at football and lacrosse, and he was co-captain of the latter. His athletic achievements were rivaled only by his sportsmanship on and off the field. Rich received the prestigious Thomas W. Eck Jr. Memorial Award which is presented for team spirit, sportsmanship and devotion to football. Rich went on to earn a Master of Science in Sports Management from UMass Amherst in 1988, opening the doors on a 20+ year college football coaching career across the US.
We will miss Rich’s calm demeanor and strategic voice at the board table. Please join HBI’s board and staff in offering deepest condolences to the entire Beal family for their loss.
