HACIN + ASSOCIATES IS NOW A CERTIFIED LGBT BUSINESS ENTERPRISE (LGBTBE®)

Historic Boston Inc. would like to congratulate Hacin + Associates on their recent certification as a LGBT Business Enterprise. HBI is proud to work with talented architects and visionaries like David Hacin and Scott Thomson on the African Orthodox Church at 50 Cedar Street project. Hacin + Associates was recently named a Certified LGBT Business Enterprise® (LGBTBE) by the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC). The multidisciplinary architecture and design studio based in Boston’s South End pursued the certification to take advantage of the organization’s educational resources, expand their client base through the NGLCC Supplier Diversity Initiative (SDI), and connect with other LGBTBEs.

H+A is inspired and encouraged by NGLCC’s mission to “connect main constituency groups – LGBT–owned businesses, affiliate chambers, corporate partners, and government agencies – in order to advance opportunities for the LGBT business community.” The firm is committed to leading by example in the diversity and inclusion space, which means continuing to advocate for change with the support of the local design community.

“We are proud to partner with the NGLCC and support their mission to broaden opportunities across the design industry and beyond,” said David J. Hacin FAIA, H+A Founding Principal and Creative Director.

In December, Hacin participated in a virtual roundtable hosted by the Boston Society for Architect (BSA) entitled “LGBTQ in the Profession” during which he discusses his outlook on the state of the industry and where there’s room for growth. The BSA’s newly-formed LGBTQ Network is cited as a meeting place for AEC professionals to “discuss, learn, and share.” H+A will continue to participate in dialogues like this with likeminded organizations in 2021.

The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce is the business voice of the LGBT community and the largest global not-for-profit advocacy organization specifically dedicated to expanding economic opportunities and advancements for LGBT people. NGLCC is the exclusive certification body for LGBT-owned businesses.
