Historic Signage adorns the Old Corner Bookstore once more

Come America’s 250th Independence Day this July 4th, the Old Corner Bookstore will put its history into words and historic images once more. Historic Boston staff and board members have been working with MASS Design Group on signage to interpret the site’s history, a four building complex dating from 1718 – 1828 believed to be the oldest continually operating commercial building in downtown Boston.

Temporary signage will be installed in late June providing some historical context for each of the four individual buildings that make up the Old Corner Bookstore complex. Following a period of public feedback, Historic Boston Inc. will embark on designing permanent signage to interpret the buildings’ history for passersby.

We won’t give too much away here. You’ll have to take a walk down School and Washington Streets and see for yourself!
