April 4, 2017 Lead Chef Announced for Roslindale Substation’s Third Rail
At a reception hosted by developer Peregrine Group for prospective investors on March 30th, veteran chef and restaurant impresario Chris Douglass announced that he had appointed Roslindale resident, Alex Horowitz, as executive chef for the forthcoming Third Rail restaurant at the Roslindale Substation.
Alex and his team of chefs prepared a menu of hors d’oeuvres that evening for more than 100 guests who came to see the newly restored interior of the Roslindale Substation and learn about opportunities to invest in Chef Douglass’ new restaurant.
Alex is a native of Wellfleet and trained at Johnson & Wales in Providence. He spent five years at Ming Tsai’s Blue Ginger in Wellesley and is currently executive chef at Chris Douglass’ Italian restaurant Tavolo in Dorchester. When we asked Alex his favorite cuisine to prepare, he told us he enjoys grilling most. The new restaurant at the Roslindale Substation is perfect for Alex since it will feature open fire cooking.
The Third Rail is expected to open this fall; build out of the restaurant is underway and will continue through the summer. Stay tuned here for more updates on the forthcoming re-opening of the Roslindale Substation.
