Old Corner Bookstore, 1718, Boston, MA

HBI was incorporated in 1960 to save this building via direct acquisition and restoration. In 1985, HBI redesigned interior circulation to utilize long-abandoned space on upper floors for commercial office space, and upgraded fire, safety, and mechanical systems. Today, the Old Corner Bookstore building is the only official Freedom Trail site that is completely commercial. HBI continues to own and operate this historic structure and net revenue from the building’s leases support HBI’s preservation mission in Boston’s neighborhoods.
