Business as usual at the Old Corner Bookstore

Brueggers Bagels and the restaurant Dig (formerly Dig Inn), are re-opening at the historic Old Corner Bookstore complex after 15 months of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Historic Boston Inc. (HBI) also resumed full office operations this month on the 4th floor of 3 School Street.

“HBI has worked closely with both companies to help them bridge the losses of this past year and to make sure they would survive and continue to thrive in downtown Boston, ” said Kathy Kottaridis, Historic Boston’s Executive Director. ““We’re so pleased to have both businesses back up and running.”

All retail businesses in the Old Corner bookstore buildings closed in March of 2020 in compliance with State Covid-19 requirements. Chipotle Mexican Grill re-opened with limited take-out food options in June 2020.

Dig Inn restarts as “Dig” with new name, branding and signage program. The company, which opened at 277 Washington Street in 2016, is also undergoing interior improvements before opening.

Brueggers Bagels, a mainstay at 7 School Street for more than 25 years, is beginning its re-start this month and will open in August.

Historic Boston’s staff also returned to work at the Old Corner Bookstore on July 19th.  HBI moved from the Eustis Street Fire House in Nubian Square in August 2020 after leasing that space to two Roxbury non-profit organizations.
