Salvage Architectural Elements from Historic Graffiti House Available to Artists and Homeowners

Known locally as “the Graffiti House,” the historic house at 197 Green Street in Jamaica Plain will soon be demolished to make way for a new mixed-use development. The good news is we have an opportunity to keep the historic spirit of the c. 1858 house alive in homes and artist studios across Jamaica Plain. Before demo, the developers, City Realty, will be salvaging the significant architectural details from the house. Those materials will then be made available to Jamaica Plain residents on a date to be determined. Any materials that are left over at the end of that day will then be donated to an architectural salvage company. You will find a list and photos of those architectural materials here: List of Materials Photos 197 Green Street

If you are interested in any of the architectural pieces to integrate into your own home or artwork, or some other creative use, please email your interest to nathansjenny@gmail.com. Details on the date, time and location of pick-up will then be emailed to you when finalized. Details are subject to change, but at this time it appears that it will be first come, first served as far as choice of pieces on the day of pick-up.
