An MHA Star of our own: Lisa Lewis

Our very own Lisa Lewis has been selected by the Massachusetts History Alliance as a winner of the Star Award, given to those recognized for “outstanding contributions to the research and interpretation of the history of their communities.”

We are honored to have Lisa on our team, serving as Historic Boston’s Senior Project Manager for the past 17 years. She has shepherded some of Historic Boston’s most impactful projects into organization success stories. She led the rehabilitation of the 1912 Upham’s Corner Comfort Station into the award winning Comfort Kitchen. She oversaw the transformation of the 1786 Fowler Clark Epstein Farm in Mattapan into headquarters for the Urban Farming Institute of Boston. She ensured key features of some of Boston’s most unique historic structures, like the 1859 Eustis Street Fire House and the 1834 Alvah Kittredge House, were restored throughout each building’s renovation to make these places relevant for their communities again–be that as nonprofit office space or much needed affordable housing.

Most recently, she has been a steward of the Old Corner Bookstore. Not only overseeing the recent Window Replacement and Facade Repair project on the 1718-1828 complex, but  managing this historic property’s needs on a day-to-day basis as well.

Through it all, Lisa Lewis was the center that held. We are proud to see her dedication to preserving Boston’s history recognized by the Massachusetts History Alliance and are grateful to have her expertise on-hand for the organization’s next project. More than many, she knows that our history is inextricable from the historic fabric that remains. In carrying that awareness to each project site, she has centered a rich neighborhood-focused approach to knowing Boston in HBI’s work, and in doing so she has left an indelible mark on this city.

Thank you for all that you do for Historic Boston Inc. and the City of Boston Lisa!
